No. The Cisco Active Advisor web scanner runs locally from a machine within your network (or with VPN or other routing access to your network devices). The scanner can run either directly within a java-capable web browser, or can be downloaded as an Windows executable (Java for Windows is still required). The scan originates from your PC and can identify any Cisco device your PC can communicate with on the local network.


If your network lacks access to communicate with the internet, the downloadable Windows desktop scanner can be used to collect information about your network devices, and then those devices can be uploaded and registered into the Active Advisor portal at a later time when your computer is again able to access the internet.
